Dear Press members,
Here is a detailed description of campusroll.com.
If you want to know more about us, please
contact us.
Campusroll.com was launched in July
2005, by two students of economics and
a small team of programmers. The idea
was simple: networking the university
students across the European borders.
Campusroll is the first of its kind.
Campusroll is free for all students.
The platform automatically builds inter-university
networks, and also helps making simple
contacts to friends and other classmates.
This enables students to exchange information
in many types or forms, such as forming
interest groups and file sharing. It
is meant to be fun!!
Probably some of the best features
of Campusroll.com is that it accepts
students only with an e-mail account
from their respective universities (such
as john@oxford.ac.uk). This assures
that only genuine people enter the site,
which means NO fake persons, harassers,
or anyone who doesn’t belong to a university.
Also, since the system knows what university
a student belongs to, posers cannot
create multiple accounts in other schools.
So, both the originality and the privacy
of the users are secured. Pretty sweet,
isn’t it ;-)
The member information is supplied
entirely by the users themselves. Apart
from their profile and contact information,
members can create photo albums and
interest groups and share them with
the rest of their friends and campus.
These are often fun and engaging. For
example, students have created an academically
oriented “Electrical Engineering” group,
business students created an “Entrepreneurial
Vision” group geared mostly for professional
debate, whereas some fun-loving students
can create “Metro and Retro sexuals”
group just for the fun of it. Groups
can be country-wide and Europe-wide
as well. This makes a fun way of dialogue!
More functions are coming, but we want
to keep the site simple and easy-to-use
rather than a chaotic all-in-one web
hub.
Actually, the idea of networking university
students came from the extremely successful
facebook.com example of the United States.
Facebook.com is a tool that radically
changed the way students interact with
each other. Close to 90% of the American
college students use the Facebook daily!
We knew, however, that in dealing with
a geography as diverse and complex as
Europe, one needs to pay attention to
the details and nuances between the
needs and lifestyles of American and
European university students. The end-product
was Campusroll.com, a site that develops
technologies that make things simpler
and more fun, and one which attracts
more members everyday!
